Covid Vaccinations

Posted: 14 January 2021

The practice has been receiving a large number of calls relating to the COVID 19 vaccines. We are working in collaboration with all the other practices in the Sedgefield locality to deliver vaccinations to all current priority groups:

  • Over 80s
  • Care home residents & staff
  • NHS staff & other selected key workers
  • Over 75s

We are at present limited by supplies of the vaccine as to how quickly we can run these clinics. We hope more vaccines will be delivered in the coming weeks.

Some of you may have received letters about vaccination appointments at the Centre of Life in Newcastle. Patients are welcome to travel for this, however, be reassured that if you prefer to wait the practice will be in touch once appointments become available here.

We appreciate how keen all patients are to receive the vaccine but please wait for the practice to contact you.

COVID-19 TESTS

The practice is unable to arrange tests for coronavirus. Tests are available online or by calling 119.

Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Flu Season Update….

Posted: 28 August 2020

Please be advised that the practice will be contacting patients eligible for a free flu vaccination in the coming weeks via SMS text message or letter.

Patients in the 50-64 age bracket who would not usually qualify for a free flu vaccination should be aware that this group will not be vaccinated until November & December, providing there is sufficient vaccine & no appointments will be offered until then. This is to ensure that those who are at most risk are vaccinated first. If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier. Please also note that GPs are not able to vaccinate this age group until the clinically at risk have been done.

Your continued co-operation is appreciated.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ATTENDING FLU APPOINTMENTS

To ensure the smooth running of flu clinics and to ensure the safety of both patients & staff, those who are given an appointment are requested to comply with the following:

  1. Do not attend if you or a household member develop any symptoms of COVID 19 ie high temperature, new continuous cough, loss of taste or smell.
  2. Wear a face covering.
  3. Come alone where possible.
  4. Attend your appointment promptly & remove your coat & roll up your sleeve in preparation for the vaccine.
