Response to COVID-19 Vaccine: Oxford-AstraZeneca Media Reports

The UK Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, which is responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work and are acceptably safe, have said that evidence DOES NOT suggest that the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab is linked to blood clots.

People should still go and get their COVID-19 vaccine when asked to do so.

Patients with a Learning Disability: The COVID Vaccine Explained

This is a short film for those who are autistic or have a learning disability. The film describes the following:

  • What a vaccine is
  • How vaccines are made
  • Why you should get a vaccine
  • Whether a vaccine will make you ill
  • How to decide whether to have a vaccine.

COVID Vaccinations

The practice has been receiving a large number of calls relating to the COVID 19 vaccines. We are working in collaboration with all the other practices in the Sedgefield locality to deliver vaccinations to all current priority groups:

  • Over 80s
  • Care home residents & staff
  • NHS staff & other selected key workers
  • Over 75s

We are at present limited by supplies of the vaccine as to how quickly we can run these clinics. We hope more vaccines will be delivered in the coming weeks.

Some of you may have received letters about vaccination appointments at the Centre of Life in Newcastle. Patients are welcome to travel for this, however, be reassured that if you prefer to wait the practice will be in touch once appointments become available here.

We appreciate how keen all patients are to receive the vaccine but please wait for the practice to contact you.

COVID-19 TESTS

The practice is unable to arrange tests for coronavirus. Tests are available online or by calling 119.

Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
